How Do You
Use A Pocket Notebook?

A sample page from one of my daily-use pocket notebooks

I was reading an internet article about pocket notebooks, and saw in the comments section where someone wondered how, exactly, does a person use a pocket notebook? It never occurred to me that anyone might be confused on this matter. If you're wondering the same thing, this page will get you off to a good start.

As I've explained at 101 Things You Can Do With a Planet Whizbang Pocket Notebook, these pretty little pads of paper and ink can be utilized in many different ways.  But for everyday use, I have a simple system.

It's a proven system because it's the one I have developed for myself and use every day. This system will make your life easier and more organized, and your work days will be more productive!

If you look at the picture of one of my old pocket notebooks above, you will see that I wrote the day and date at the top of the page. Then I listed numerous things I wanted to remember and/or get done that day. That's where my system begins.

There are 16 lines on the page, so you can list up to 16 things that you need to get done. If you have more than 16 things that you need to get done in a day, you are just too busy.

When I get something done that's on the list, I cross it off. Any notes or ideas that I need to jot down during that day are written at the bottom or on the back side of the page. So every day I am utilizing two pages of the book.

At the end of the day, I date the next page and re-list what I didn't get done, along any new things I want to get done on the next day.

I work this simple system in the book from day to day. There are 48 pages in each Planet Whizbang pocket notebook so you can get 24 days of efficiency and organization out of each book.

But you will probably end up using other pages (from the back of the book) for other things. So I figure one pocket notebook is good for two weeks with this system.

If you purchase 30 pocket notebooks, you will have a year's supply (26 notebooks), and a few to give as gifts or use for other purposes. So, for an investment of $22, you will have a year's supply of pocket notebooks. If utilized properly, they will help you be more organized, efficient and productive…. for a whole year.

Make no mistake about it, these pocket notebooks are serious tools. And using a pocket notebook every day is a habit worth developing. It's a habit well worth teaching to your children.

And when you need a little inspiration during the busyness of your life, just pause, take a couple of deep breaths (preferably of fresh air), and read the Laura Ingalls Wilder quote on the back of the notebook… It'll put everything in proper perspective.
